CDMA-Fixed Wireless

Recently, with all the cutbacks at work, I had to find an inexpensive solution to my continuously growing cellphone bill.  My  “I-Phone” on the shared plan with Sprint was well over $130.00 month. Granted if it weren’t for all the excise taxes and universal access fees,  the monthly charge would have been a little less than $100.00. So what was my solution?

MEET CDMA-FIXED WIRELESS- a $20.00 per month plan,  with unlimited calls (long distance included)  throughout the United States.  The device looks like a portable router. It has the width of a sandwich and can be carried in a purse or briefcase. Two lines can be attached.

I hook up VTECH  HD audio phone to it and it works fine.  As an experiment, I plugged the VTECH phone into the car charge adapter, placed calls and took calls  while on the road, using the VTECH wireless earpiece. The phone worked fine, but like any wireless phone, the quality of the signal was weak in some areas of Phoenix.

The VTECH phone itself is $99.00.  So, if that is too pricey, The CMDA Fixed Wireless works with th $14.95 dollar phone as well.  And, to be truthful, I actually like the cheaper variety better. People have seen me with it and have asked if I have gone “RETRO”  The advantage of the “Retro” phone is that it doesn’t require to be plugged into a power source. So, it becomes completely portable. I take it into the coffee shop with me and get some intrigued looks.

Nevertheless, I have saved over $500.00 on my cell phone bill over the last 5 months. So, now I can spend more time with friends and family, perhaps even buy a few more cafe lattes at the local Coffee Shop.

Til the next Post.
